The food is good. You can tell because of the line that wraps the building all the time. The good news is that they move fast and get customers served. The bad news is, when they move fast they start to get sloppy with the burrito rolling. My burrito was handled as if it was a dirty diaper being taken off by a tired, angry mother. Didn't taste like that, though.

Since I work close by, I go here usually 1-2 times a month. When it's good, it's great, but they have some consistency problems. If they overcome these, it would be truly a great experience, and I'd probably go there for lunch a lot more. 1) Portion control - sometimes extra meat gets me the same as normal meat. Sometimes it's so much meat I save half for dinner. 2) Sauce amount - sometimes the bowl comes out dry and sad, usually it's well-sauced. 3) Rice inclusion - 2-3 times they have included rice when I asked for no rice (I usually order with the Chipotle App, so there shouldn't be any confusion here). 4) Bowl seepage - About half the time I pick up a bowl in a bag, the sauce leaks, making a mess in the bag. Maybe this is a problem with the bowl itself, or maybe just sealing it tightly would help. 5) Timing issues - this is the most aggravating for me. I work in process engineering, where I've found that the lead time (how long it takes to make something) is often not as important as the variability in the delivery time. In other words, I don't mind if the app tells me I need to wait 40 minutes vs. 20 minutes, as long as I KNOW that it will be ready in 40 minutes. This is especially important since food gets cold. I've come to expect that half the time, my order will be ready 5-10 minutes late. So I tend to show up a bit later than when I order the food. If Chipotle could tighten up their time estimates (there's no reason not to prioritize online orders over in-store customers, since customers are already waiting in line), then a lot of the pre-order customers would be more satisfied with on-time food that isn't cold. When I order food 2 hours in advance and it's still 15 minutes late (happened 1-2 times) something is wrong. I think it's obvious by now that I eat at Chipotle way too much, and I like it enough to articulate what could make it better. Highly recommended for both the food and the convenience.

I am not shy so I credit myself with their consistently good food :). If I think it's lacking enough ingredients or the portion looks off-I mention it right there. Easy to do when you watch it being made. I love this place for when I am VERY hungry because it is a lot of food!! If you go around dinner time, the line is obscene. Seriously.

Great Service. My take out order wasn't ready when I came in the door. I was actually early. They gave me a free drink and apologized. Not your fault guys. I'm early. Thank you

Not sure why this Chipotlet standards doesn't meet up with the other locations that I've experienced, but they should work on it some more. Lines are always long and require at least a 15-20 min wait around lunchtime. Be smart and order it online first so that you don't waste your time in that line. The flavors aren't up to par with the other locations. They're inconsistent with the amount that you get each time - it's either more or less than what you would expect. And when they're in a lunch rush they can get overwhelmed and mess up your order. Again, if you're craving Chipotle, avoid the lunch rush or try another location - I think there's a couple more in Portland.

I was thrilled when I heard that this franchise had opened up in Maine, having loved the meals I'd had at some of their West Coast locations, but was very disappointed. For almost $10, I got relatively flavorless and uninteresting food that I could have easily (and more cheaply) made myself. The rice was bland, dry, and tasted only like someone had squeezed a very small amount of lime juice on it...a few hours prior. The beans could easily have just been dumped out of cans into the steam trays. The meat (shredded beef) didn't taste like much of anything at all, and while the veggies were reasonably fresh, the quantity of all that I received on my salad (!) was unreasonably small. Yes, the parking sucks, and yes, they are insanely busy at lunch (why?!), but as far as I'm concerned, the real problem with this establishment is that it serves utterly boring food at such steep prices.

Gotta be honest. I've been back since my first review. I don't know if I was there on a bad day or they upped their game, but it finally tasted the way Chipotle is meant to. I'll definitely be back.

Went for lunch. The people weren't friendly....the food was too spicy even with the mild salsa---it must have been that or the chicken. (I love medium salsa anywhere). The chips were too salty as well. Just overall not great. I miss Costa Vida! Bring them back!!

There are much better options in the fine state of Maine then this mediocre chain. This place is like a yuppie feeding trough at lunch. The quality lies somewhere between chilies on a bad day and taco bell on a good one. Check these other place first. locococos.com yelp.com/biz/hella-good-… yelp.com/biz/taco-trio-s…

Always enjoy this place. Lines are almost always long but it moves quickly. Customer service is great and everyone always seems to be happy behind the counter. Seating is very uncomfortable, I'm pretty sure that's so people don't spend the day taking up space but wish it was a little more welcoming.

Not going to say it was great or horrible. I am from the south so since there are very view Moe's Southwest Grills around I decided to try it. All the ingredients are fresh and the staff was very polite. I just think they don't have a lot of selection when it comes to the burrito fillings like Moe's Southwest Grill

My boyfriend and I love going to this Chipotle, we always get burrito bowls and mr pibb. It's our favorite place to get something we both agree on, it's quick, affordable and we crave it. The staff is usually very friendly and recognizes us which makes us feel really welcome! Even though the line is usually very quick, we try to avoid going between 12 and 2 because it's always so busy, no seating and a line out the door. We do use the app though, which allows us to save our favorite order and payment so all we have to do is click a button, walk in past the line and pick it up to go.

This is a busy Chipotle. It may be difficult to find parking at times. This was my third time at this location. Every time there is a line that goes to the end of the store -- but it's not bad at all because the line moves quickly. The ingredients have always been fresh, but they've always skimped out on the rice, fajitas, and meat for me. I'll just need to ask them to add more in the future. Chipotle is one of my favorite burrito places. I wouldn't mind eating here again, but will choose another Chipotle location if I have the chance.

It's always delicious! This place is hopping no matter what time it is and you get a great portion for your money. I had a beef burrito with peppers and onions, gauc, lettuce, sour cream and corn salsa and a fountain drink for 10.82!

Not sure what everyone is complaining about! I've come here twice in the past week with my Husband!! The food was fantastic. My husband had a steak burrito the first time and he raved about it for an hour! I had the chicken burrito bowl and it was delicious. The second time around he got steak tacos and again ranted for an hour how delicious it was. Again, I had the chicken burrito bowl absolutely fantastic. Both times we went there was a huge line that the staff handled very quickly and were extremely nice! I'm not sure why they are getting negative marks. The place was clean and neat, too. The only one negative thing I can say was the soda machine was out of ice. I went to the counter and told the staff and literally within 40 seconds they were filling the machine with ice. I think that makes this restaurant on top of their game!!!

I also do not know what people are complaining about... We eat here quite frequently and have always enjoyed our food. I always get a chicken burrito bowl and my boyfriend gets either pork/chicken burrito or burrito bowl. We both get the guacamole - it is worth the extra charge! I also wanted to write about the service that I received the other day. I ordered online and it wasn't ready when I got there because the website only offered me a time more than 30 minutes in the future. So while I was waiting, they offered me a soda and then gave me my food at no charge! I tried to pay and they insisted on giving it to me. They did not have to do this and I really appreciated it. Great customer service!!

I love chipotle. Every time I go to this location there is usually a line, but it moves fast and the service is always quick and courteous. I generally get the same thing every time, because hey when something is good why mess with it. I like to get the steak burritos with white rice and ask for the additional sautéed onions and peppers. I skip the beans even though they offer refrained or pinto beans. Next they ask me what salsa I want. I usually go with the mild but sometimes get the hot. I also add the cold corn salsa, shredded cheese, and sour cream and no additional charge. You do have the option of adding guacamole at a nominal extra charge but I usually save that for and appetizer type of thing. I am asked if my order is for here or to go and if I would like any chips or drink with my meal. I usually go with the drink, pay and and I am on my way to stuff my face. The whole process from ordering to when I receive my meal usually takes less than 2 minutes, which is great when you are in a hurry and are hungry. I have never left this chipotle feeling dissatisfied or not full. I will continue going to this location until they put one closer to my house.

One word: Sofritas. As a vegetarian, any fast-food restaurant that truly caters to veg-heads wins over my heart! In general, when I am traveling or need a quick bite, Chipotle is my go-to place, and I am rarely, if ever, disappointed. This Chipotle is no different. The staff are efficient, friendly (enough), food is consistent, price is reasonable, portions are large, and they offer choices for all types of eaters (GF, V, kids, etc.). This location is convenient for me, close to my errands, right off the highway, and it has its own parking lot. That said, the lot can get very full at peak meal times (noon-1pm and 5-6pm). There is over flow parking near by. The lines can get long during these peak times, but I am always impressed with how quickly the line moves and how the kitchen stays well-stocked with all the essentials. There is plenty of seating, and the place is always pretty clean. There is a little outdoor patio, which doesn't offer the nicest of views, but it's nice in the summer. This Chipotle certainly has me coming back! Can't get enough of those sofritas!!

Efficient and clean. Always, always busy though. The crew is quick, though and does their best to keep the line moving. They are sensitive to those of us that require special handling (no cheese)... so if you're worried about that... don't be. They have been good every time....

you can't beat the build your own burrito. This is the subway of mexican food. pop in, grab a yummy lunch and back to the day. The food is fresh and tasty. I always get mine with every type of salsa for extra heat. The service ia professional line of burrito artists. I am still amazed at the folding expertise

I like Chipotle - and this location is no exception. The secret to this place is that they are always busy...in a great location across right from Maine Mall. I am amazed that the line at this restaurant which is always long. Mainers apparently love Chipotle! So, what is the draw here?? Fresh ingredients and fast service keep people coming back for wicked good food. My personal favorite is a burrito bowl with brown rice, pinto beans, sofritos...with guacamole, lettuce and lots of salsa. Meat-free and packed with awesomeness!

I feel like this may be a duplicate of many of the other reviews. Chipotle as a whole, I would give it a solid four stars. I like the ingredients that they use here and the concept. This location unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired. While I get that lines are long and it gets busy and can be stressful, I feel like eye contact and maybe a smile might be nice. AT the risk of sounding like an old lady, customer service is really big in my book and is definitely the reason I would be coming back to a chain restaurant versus choosing another option. I think that this customer service factor shows in the cleanliness and organization of the place and honestly is why the lines are a bit longer. When I go to other Chipotle locations, the lines might be long, but they move faster and I don't mind waiting because everyone is pretty nice. In the end, I do come back. I use the online option, which allows me to avoid the awkward and sometimes rude line of associates. I take my food to go to avoid the dirty tables and the overflowing garbage. I just point blank avoid the bathroom. I park further away to avoid the cramped and poorly designed parking lot. Mostly, I only return when my Chipotle craving is screaming and punching and I am not near any other possible locations.

I love me some Chipotle, but this location is just... meh. It's as though all the employees love their job until they actually have to do their job. And I get it, sometimes I don't want to go to work and am counting the hours until I leave, but if you working directly with the public, you have to at least pretend to be somewhat pleasant. It's got to the point where I feel like I'm seriously hassling the line worker when I ask for a little more rice, so I now do all my ordering online, where I'm free to request extra rice and extra cheese without receiving some eye rolls or sighs on the side!

  • Penelope B.

Chipotle is kind of in the uncanny valley of Mexican food and the reason I eat here is that it's easy to get a vegetarian or vegan gluten-free meal and there are no surprises. I like it when I can get something with no surprises.

Having lived in the NYC metro area for the last three years, I've become accustomed to many work day lunches at Chipotle. Lines run out the door and I'm a pro with the online ordering system (never wait in line!). If I was rating Chipotle as a whole, I'd be giving 5 stars. This particular Chipotle has left much to be desired in its level of consistency and customer service- in comparison to my other experiences. I've gone in 4 to 5 times now and each time my veggie burrito bowl has been made with varying amounts of ingredients. My most recent trip on Saturday offered more sour cream, cheese, and guacamole than I could consume in two days. The employee scooping the condiments appeared to be feeling like a junior high lunch lady that day. Just "slopping" it all on. You might be thinking- more is better!! But the ratio's were completely off between the heaping piles of sour cream and guac and the rice and beans in the bottom. Chipotle prides itself on its employees and some of them were seriously lacking in customer service skills and personality. It was as if it got progressively worse as I got closer to the checkout. To be noted- the first employee I encountered was very friendly. The checkout employee charged me for the wrong item, which I pointed out as I noticed I was charged significantly more than usual. Without going into detail, this was not a positive experience to end my most recent visit. I have total understanding that they were busy and she was probably getting more stressed out and embarrassed as the moments went on while she held up the line. However, customer service goes a LONG way in these situations and neither the manager nor the employee chose to communicate with me while I was standing there. I left feeling frustrated and a bit annoyed. Of course, I'll be going back because it's Chipotle, and customer service can vary depending upon shift and staffing.

If you are looking for something that will spin your taste buds or get the juices flowing, Chipotle might not be the place for you. Imagine this ... Remember the episode of Seinfeld called the Soup Nazi? This is how I feel every single time that I come here to eat minus the rudeness of the person serving it. But it has the feel of a factory of people lined up to the chow line to pick what they want. Now after that opening description, it is a place that has good alternatives for vegetarians and you can get the bowls in lieu of the tortilla. The place is always a mess because people are sitting down like cattle ... eating on very uncomfortable chairs and then leaving shards and shrapnel of lettuce pieces and corn pellets on the floor like a war zone. As you might be sitting at the high tables be aware that you will be hawked and ogled at by the line that is going out the door because they are ravenous and want their grub that you are eating already so it is a little awkward. So, if you like Chipotle, you will like this place but I wish they had whole wheat tortillas and more selections of add-ons ... they should take note of Qdoba across the street for toppings like three cheese queso or queso fresco sauce. Good place to swing in to grab a bite because although the line is long and sometimes out of the building it moves quickly. Just remember what I stated above and enjoy the crazy moments and you will love to fill your belly with a good sized portion of food.

Not the shiniest star in the Chipotle chain--and I am a huge fan. I've been to Chipotles in 3 countries and nearly 20 states, including a trip to Evans, the Mecca of Chipotle restaurants. The problem was the people. Well, two of them. One was the stingy girl saving all the salsa for herself. I could swear I heard her snarl when I asked for a second meager helping of pico de gallo. The other was the girl playing check-out. My partner and I told her he had a chicken Burrito Bowl and I had one of Barbacoa mixed with the new Sofritos--dynamite, by the way! As if she couldn't trust us, she had to double inspect mine. I commented that I wasn't lying, honest! And then, I tried to fill my cup of iced tea. The urn was empty. I reported it to the cashier and assumed it would be refilled. Sadly, it wasn't. Finally, the Sofritos was great. The guac incredible. But the Barbacoa was the mildest I've had in years. Maybe they are new and working out their issues. I hope so. This is only my second non-stellar Chipotle experience. They will be better next time.

Chipotle is one of my favorite places to eat. They have fresh ingredients and everything is delicious. This location is no different and the customer service is always outstanding. Every time I'm in here there is a huge line, but it moves so fast you hardly notice!

Undercooked rice, apathetic service. And the restaurant was FREEZING. Such a disappointment after otherwise great experiences with other branches. If you're in the area, head to another location and give this one a pass. ________Update_____________ I reached out to Chipotle online using the "contact us" section of their website with not expectation of hearing back. I got a response the same day and swapped some email with the representative to help them understand our experience. They made it right with a apology and a gift card for a future visit. Really impressed with the attention to service.

The food is always fresh and delish. The employees hustle and the line moved quickly. Although, two reasons they do not get 5 stars is that the resturant is always COLD!! Also, I would like my burrito ingrediants evenly distributed and not plopped in the middle so that I am eating one ingrediant at a time. Otherwise when the burrito is properly made it taste like it came from a Taqueira

We have eaten at many Chipolte Mexican Grills over the years, up until now, all have been outstanding. Unfortunately, this location was a poor example of what Chipolte can provide. Food had very little flavor, staff had a attitude and many tables were left dirty. We would not return to this little cation.

The burrito was fine, but the ambiance took my appetite away. Too many people crammed into a too-small space, and when you're standing in line you're right there staring at people wolfing down their food. Reminded me of people crowding around troughs at the all-you-can eat buffet. Glad I opted for carry out. Can't imagine eating in.

Considering that Portland, Maine does not have too many authentic mexican food as back home in SoCal, I'm a bit biased. I don't consider Chipotle as authentic but it's decent food for on-the-go especially during finals week. Service: 4/5 I haven't met anyone mean yet. The girls tend to put less meat & ingredients than the guys but no worries, you can just request for more. Parking:4/5 Spots are available unless you come during high traffic time which tends to be around lunch time. Food: 3/5 Overpriced but like I said if you're in a rush and need something decent, go to Chipotle. My favorite parts of the burrito is the brown rice. Overall, I'd come back again :)

Lots of food for not a lot of dough! The line is usually long, so go ahead and order online. The wait is much shorter this way. It was all very tasty. A little messy and hard to eat. The extra charge of $2.50 for chips and $2.00 extra if you want guacamole seems a bit steep. I was surprised that these items didn't come with the meal.

Maybe it's a Maine thing, but when I order a burrito I'm expecting something packed with flavor, with sour cream and cheese that melts in the mouth and complements the heat of salsa, meat that's well seasoned, and rice and beans with flavor and texture. Ever since I had my first Burrito over at Granny's on Fore Street (now closed), I've loved the Burrito. Chipotle, what have you done? I've been assured by friends that this chain is HUGE all over the country, fast food but supposedly much better than anything else. My experience did not live up to that. I ordered a chicken, brown rice, black bean burrito with medium salsa. While the salsa had the heat I was looking for the consistency was disappointing, runny with no discernible vegetables in it. The chicken was ok, boring - the rice and beans were well cooked but extremely bland - without the salsa it would have been like eating baby food. Couldn't tell that it had cheese OR sour cream on it, even though I watched them add it. Burritos are not the place for fat free sour cream but that is what this looked like, runny and weak against the flavor of the salsa. $2 more for guac is outrageous. The atmosphere was grim, to say the least. Loud "trendy" music made it nearly impossible to communicate with those around me. Eating while watching another 20 people line up for the same bland, over priced food was like watching an assembly line. I'm sure whoever owns this franchise is making a killing, but I wont be back.

I'm glad there's a Chipotle right by the mall. Definitely beats mall food. Can never go wrong. I dislike how they close at 10pm when it closes at 11pm in California.. big difference! :(

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
